Modular Transitional Housing
Housing, New Construction
TYPE:
Republic of Artsakh
LOCATION:
Forcibly Stopped by War in 2023
STATUS:

Modular Transitional Housing is a pilot initiative designed for Armenians displaced by the 2020 Artsakh war. Located in the Republic of Artsakh, the project sought to provide a rapid and high-quality housing solution using prefabricated panels manufactured in Dubai and assembled on site.

Each of the ten units met contemporary standards of comfort, including proper insulation, ventilation, and functional internal layouts tailored to the needs of local families. The project combined speed of construction with long-term habitability, offering a model for refugee housing that prioritises dignity and quality of life.

Beyond its technical innovation, the project carried a deep social mission—supporting recovery, stability, and community rebuilding.Unfortunately, the initiative was forcibly stopped in 2023 due to renewed conflict, halting further development.

Despite its abrupt end, Artsakh Toun stands as a testament to architecture’s potential to respond humanely and efficiently to crises.
