STATUS:

Grikoryan House is a residential extension project in Mechelen, Belgium, adding 400m² to an existing villa. The design centres on the articulation of spaces formed at the junction between the original building and the new structure.

These zones—double-height volumes, vertical circulation spaces, and transitional corridors—are carefully shaped and oriented around large bay windows, ensuring constant visual and spatial contact with the outdoors. The openings along the front façade are framed within a brick wall layer that references local architectural language and grounds the new addition in its context. This gesture brings both texture and identity to the project, bridging contemporary intervention with regional character.

The result is a harmonious dialogue between new and old, light and material, enclosure and openness.
